Isn't it funny how every photographer tries to persuade you that he or she is "different" or that they offer a "unique" product?  But, after looking at several photographers, how they all tend to blend together?  The reality of the situation is this, most photographers will give you an acceptable end product.  The photographs will resemble you to a large degree and they will be unique because, well, they are of you or your wedding.

Thanks Richard for putting up with my timidity and lack of experience. I had to start somewhere, I'm glad it was with you!
Working with Richard was a lot of fun. He's a great guy and a true man of his art. Anybody should leap at the chance to work with him.

This is not to say that some photographers are not better at their craft than others.  However, the trick is figuring out which ones.

In weddings for example, most photographers will be more than happy to show you their "sample" albums.  Do you think that these albums are of their average work?  Of course not, they are usually the best weddings that they have ever taken. While DIPics will show you a "sample" album if you like, look at it as only a sample of the type of album we offer. For samples of the photography, we will let you look at the proofs from the last couple of weddings and bridal portraits that we photographed.  This way you can see the level of quality that we turn out on a week-to-week basis.  We just feel that it is more honest that way.

The pictures look awesome! Thank you so much!

And, don't forget, it isn't all about the pictures.  The wedding itself is a beautifully choreographed, well rehearsed ceremony that is run by someone (the person officiating) who has the necessary training and experience to ensure that it goes off smoothly.  But, what about the reception?  Who runs things there?  Unless there is a wedding coordinator, this job usually falls to the photographer.  You may never notice him gently directing things by discretely whispering hints to the appropriate people but, this is one of the photographers most important jobs.  Make sure that you choose someone that you would feel comfortable giving this responsibility to.

Let's also not forget the favorite phrase of the professional photographer.  "You get what you pay for".  Ok, you will get much better results using an experienced

photographer than you would using uncle Joe who "has a really nice camera" but, is price really the best way to judge quality?

Here at DIPics, we feel that everyone should be able to afford quality photography.  We strive to keep our overhead low so we can pass the savings on to you.  There is no DIPics "studio".  A studio is not needed (or even useful) for wedding photography so, why should you have to pay for one?  And, for our portrait and portfolio photography, we feel that making the most of the variety of locations in the Brazos Valley area offers a much better variety than a static studio location ever could.  And, don't fool yourself, you would be the one paying for it.  Also, DIPics shoots exclusively digitally.  This cutting-edge technology not only allows us to offer extremely high quality results but also means we never have to pay for film or developing.  So, you don't either.  Instead of falling for "you get what you pay for", try judging the quality for yourself.  Look at proofs from our competitions' last couple of weddings and then from ours.  Compare apples to apples.  We promise you will be pleasantly surprised.  After all, isn't it about time that affordable, quality photography comes to the Bryan/College Station area?

They are all beautiful. You did a wonderful job at our wedding. I have recommended you to a bunch of people.

About digital imaging, while the process that we use to capture the image is digital, you absolutely cannot distinguish between a print made from a traditional film camera and one printed using the process that DIPics utilizes.  In effect, the digital image is projected onto traditional photographic paper and developed using state-of-the-art chemical processes.  This ensures that a DIPics photograph will have the same look and feel as a traditional photograph.  But, because of the control of the image that digital imaging offers, it will be color-balanced and otherwise optimized to a degree not possible with film.  Again, just look at our results and compare the quality for yourself.

Finally, experience.  While fairly new to the Brazos Valley, Richard Harrison, the photographer behind DIPics, has honed his skills while shooting over 700 weddings and an astonishing 40,000+ portrait and portfolio sessions.   He is a member in good standing of the Professional Photographers of America, the world’s largest and most respected association for professional photographers. Let that wonderful combination of experience and cutting-edge technology work with you to produce a truly memorable wedding or portrait experience.
